A man who has lost himself – or perhaps found himself in the worst possible way. This piece captures Kanye West in a moment of total control, where he is quite literally measuring and shaping his wife after his well-known ex, Kim Kardashian. For years, she has been his accessory, a silent shadow, gradually becoming more and more like the woman he cannot let go of.
The t-shirt he wears is from his controversial Super Bowl stunt – a reference to the ad that directed audiences to his website, where the only product for sale was a t-shirt featuring a swastika, a symbol he himself has been seen wearing multiple times.
Bjerkis combines colors, charcoal, and acrylic to emphasize the absurdity and darkness of this scene: a man who repeatedly proves that power, money, ego, and obsession go hand in hand.
This piece is available in four sizes as a high-quality print.
The original artwork (61x93 cm, professionally framed) is available for bidding.
