Their outfits are marked with banned LGBTQ+ symbols, highlighting their histories of restriction and exclusion. The altered symbols in the background reinforce themes of extremism and ignorance. Inspired by Budde’s famous speech, the piece critiques power, arrogance, and an unwillingness to learn.
